Correction: Kidney disease and drug options for GPs

1 minute read

In a TMR article on CKD it was stated alogliptin, saxagliptin and sitagliptin should be ceased if the eGFR falls below 50ml/min. This is not correct.

In an article titled “Kidney disease and the drugs GPs need to worry about,” published in The Medical Republic print edition on 22 November 2018, and online 30 November 2018, it was stated that alogliptin, saxagliptin and sitagliptin  should all be ceased if the eGFR falls below 50ml/min.

This is not correct. The item should have stated: “Doses of alogliptin, saxagliptin and sitagliptin should be reviewed if a patient’s eGFR drops and changed if required, as per their individual TGA approved product information.”

A corrected version of this article has been published and can be found at http://medicalrepublic.com.au/kidney-disease-drugs-gps-need-worry/18059

The Medical Republic apologises for this error and for any confusion it may have caused.
