Patient management software group MedicalDirector trumps field to come second in AFR top 100 innovative companies awards

Patient management software group MedicalDirector has  trumped a prestigious field of innovative Australian companies to come second overall in the Australian Financial Review top 100 most innovative Australian companies award, and first in the category of Business Model Innnovation of the Year, for its cloud-based Helix patient management system.

In winning the award the company beat iconic innovators as Xero, MYOB, Deloittes, Carsales.com and M&C Saatchi Australia.

At yesterday’s Health Informatics Conference in Sydney, head of the Medical Software Industry Association, Emma Hossack, praised the win as a significant sign of the rapidly growing importance in innovation that medical software companies in Australia were playing.

Ms Hossack said that the win would do a lot to lift the profile of the medical software sector in the country.

Accepting the award on behalf of MedicalDirector, CEO Matthew Bardsley said the award was a celebration of the doctors, nurses, practice managers and the people out there delivering patient care in the community.

“We’re honoured to be recognised by the AFR as one of Australia’s most innovative companies and excited to enable ideal health outcomes in Australia,” Mr Bardsley said.

“Our top ranking is a testament to the amazing work of our people who share the same passion and vision to drive better health outcomes. And we will continue to innovate, working closely with doctors, the government, patients and industry, so that together, we can make people healthier around the world.”

Past winners of the award include Deloitte, MuleSoft, CSIRO and Planet Innovation.

The overall winner this year was mining software company Groundprobe, which makes a product that monitors key mine metrics in complete darkness for increased efficiency and operational safety.
