Under the partnership, young GPs and rural generalists will have access to discounts on the cloud-based tech.

Members of General Practice Registrars Australia will have access to discounts on MediRecords software under a new partnership between the independent body for young GPs and the software provider.

Under the new agreement, GPRA members will be eligible for a MediRecords discount based on the stage of their training and career.

MediRecords is an Australian cloud-based clinical management platform that enables GPs and rural generalists to access patient records in the clinic or remotely.

Under the offer, medical students will have free access to the technology, while doctors at other stages in their careers will qualify for different rates: 75% off the cost of the licence for prevocational doctors, 50% off for registrars, and 15% off for new fellows and alumni.

GPRA president Dr Chris Dickie told TMR that many doctors in remote communities regularly moved between clinics, outreach visits and telehealth.

“This partnership helps GPs and rural generalists build confidence in modern digital systems from day one of their careers and securely access their notes and relevant guidelines, whether consulting in a clinic, delivering telehealth, working in aged care facilities, or in a remote community.

“They’ll be ready to deliver care that is flexible, connected and responsive to patient needs, no matter the setting.”

Dr Dickie said patients increasingly wanted to access care from GPs and RGs through different pathways, including digital platforms.

“The future is here, and the use of digital, safe and accessible platforms is just another way a doctor can keep in touch with their patient and vice versa, for the benefit of their health,” he said in a statement.

Dr Dickie said digital technology could not replace face-to-face care, but it was a critical tool in a doctor’s service model.

“MediRecords recognises the unique needs of GPRA members as they embark on their professional journey.”

MediRecords CEO Matthew Galetto said the partnership was a “great fit” for members of GPRA.

“MediRecords has a growing client base of early career, entrepreneurial doctors who want flexibility in their careers,” Mr Galetto said.

“Our platform gives GPRA members the freedom to work how and where they want, while leveraging our API connectivity to build truly exciting new healthcare businesses.

“It’s a great fit, and we look forward to supporting GPRA members as they shape the future of general practice.”

TMR publisher Jeremy Knibbs is a non-executive director of MediRecords.
