What are some strategies for maintaining good vision during life with diabetes?

Professor Paul Mitchell, an ophthalmologist and the director of Sydney West Retina at The Westmead Institute for Medical Research, says it’s all about maintaining good control of one’s blood glucose, blood pressure and lipids, and getting regular eye exams.

“Actually come in quickly if you notice a change in your vision,” he says. “Self-test your vision and see if it’s gone off … because it’s amazing how people can lose vision in one eye and not be aware of it, particularly in the older age group.”
