TMR podcast: practical tips for burn management

1 minute read

A burns and general surgeon, Dr Carl Lisec, shares his top tips for managing minor burn injuries in general practice

Most GPs can easily spot epidermal (first-degree) burns and, at the other end of the spectrum, a full thickness (third-degree) burn.

But it can be difficult for doctors to identify the depth of a partial thickness (second-degree) burn.

Dr Carl Lisec, a burns and general surgeon, explains how to assess the depth of minor burn injuries by the colour of the dermis and the mechanism which caused the injury.

The ANZBA guide for small burns can be found here.
