The integration is intended to give practices of all sizes access to next-generation workflow support. It’s a big move, say GPs.
Australia’s leading provider of general practice management software has integrated with AI scribe Lyrebird Health’s free tier, as part of its Bp Premier offering, in a move calculated to provide access to practices that otherwise would be excluded due to cost.
With BP estimated to have around an 85% share of the Australian GP market, the move was described by one GP practice owner as the “death knell” to any other software vendors hoping to compete with a free service.
“[It] will also be interesting to see how BP allow access to other AI providers given the clear priority they are giving to Lyrebird,” said Dr Max Mollenkopf on LinkedIn.
Best Practice also has an integration with Heidi, for example.
“Our customers have been very clear about the pressures they face – rising administrative demands, increasing compliance requirements and limited time with patients,” said Craig Hodges, CEO of Best Practice.
“By offering free, compliant AI notetaking within Bp Premier, we are giving practices immediate, practical support.”

Unlike traditional AI scribe tools that focus solely on transcription, Lyrebird extends support beyond the consultation. It drafts notes, captures clinical observations and populates structured data directly into relevant fields within Bp Premier for clinician review and approval.

Documentation becomes a support for quality care rather than a barrier, and this functionality is now available to every Bp Premier practice at no additional cost.
“Clinicians told us the biggest change was how the work felt. Less mental load, more space to think and more attention for patients,” said Kai Van Lieshout, CEO and founder of Lyrebird Health.
“Through our partnership with Best Practice, we’re moving beyond note taking to support the workflows around the consult, directly inside Bp Premier, so care can happen with fewer steps and fewer screens.”
Best Practice and Lyrebird said they had removed financial barriers in order to give access to next-generation workflow support to practices of all sizes.
Lyrebird Pro offers additional workflows designed to further reduce administrative burden and increase capacity. These include care plans, health assessments, reviews, forms and nurse and GP collaboration.
