Do I feel sorry for the general practice owners ( of which over 75% are non-doctors) who may lose, according to that great maker-up of figures, the president of the RACGP, of $150 million, do I feel sorry for those pathology companies who, according to themselves, have been screwed by these very same general practice owners for exorbitant rents, but made a deal with the devil ( the current government ) to not presenting thousand of signatures on a petition to save Bulk billing and lift the freeze, do I feel sorry that poor Susan Ley scrapped a hastily imposed moratorium on new leases, deciding instead to allow only six-month terms before the advent of new controls next year to ensure fair “market rents”,?
The answer is a resounding NO!!
As a solo practitioner there has not been one measure done by the government or the pathology companies that have directly positively affected my practice, rather the complete opposite in that all deals done are for the benefits of the big practices and corporations. Not even 1 fucking red cent has been given to the the small GP thanks to the freeze, and the governments deal with pathology and radiology to not attack the current government before the previous election.
