HealthEd is holding a free webcast on Wednesday, 14 November 2018 7:00pm – 9:30pm AEDT looking at interesting cases in type 2 diabetes and attracting 4 Category 2 RACGP CPD and 2 Core PDP ACRRM points approved. CLICK HERE to register

The webcast will feature three expert speakers presenting followed by a Q&A panel. You will have the chance to ask the speakers questions and participate in polling via any internet-connected device during the Q&A panel facilitated by our expert chairman, Dr David Lim. Instructions on how to log into the webcast will be emailed to registered delegates in the weeks before the event.

Facilitator: Dr David Lim, General Practitioner, specific interest in management of Type 2 Diabetes.

Dr Lim is an experienced GP with special interest in T2D and metabolism. He is an experienced and engaging facilitator. David will bring a series of tricky cases and common conundrums encountered in GP to challenge the panel’s expertise and bring out useful practice advice and insights that GPs can take away and use in their daily practice.

Managing diabetes in a patient with impaired kidney function can be challenging. They have heightened risk of CVD and death while at the same time the risk of adverse drug reactions is also substantially increased. Prof MacIsaac and then the panel will advise on how to navigate this space.

TOPIC: Type 2 Diabetes – Simplifying The Choices – A Case Based Guide

Dr Gary Deed, GP; Chair, The Diabetes Specific Interest Network RACGP

The new therapeutic options for T2 diabetes are an exciting time for those working with these patients. However understanding how best to use them, combine them or transition patients between them can be practically difficult. Dr Deed will give an overview of his approach and then the panel will provide their insights.

TOPIC: Type 2 Diabetes Clinical Trials Update – Key Findings From Recent Studies

A/Prof Neale Cohen, Diabetologist; Director of Clinical Diabetes, Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute.
A/Prof Cohen will give a brief update on recent major developments in the world of T2 diabetes including new guidelines, new major studies and therapeutic developments of relevance to GPs.
